Default question on frame sliders

Hey guys, I need help! I need to get some frame sliders for my bike. I noticed they have extended frame sliders which are longer than normal, and then they have just the regular ones. What do you think is better? and what would you buy?

Default RE: question on frame sliders

i just put the extended one's on my bike. will they really be any better??? who knows! i just figured it'd be worth a try. some will say that the longer the slider the more apt you are to snap off the engine bolt if you go down, but my thinking is, if i go down that hard the bike's probably trashed anyway.

my 2 cents

damn really? see I didnt know that. I would think that extended frame sliders would help protect it a little more since there longer and stick furthur out from the bike. I'm talking about a tip-over or light fall, but I know that frame sliders are not going to help you if you crash doing 50+ mph...[:'(]

i have also heard this. ive also heard that too much stress is placed on the engine mount and can cause some bending that wouldn't happen with normal length sliders. is this true? i have no clue. i have always used normal length sliders (because i like the look better) and can testify that they work just fine in a slide. some plastic damage but the frame was untouched and that's the important part.

yo...don't get the longer ones...i've seen the regular ones snap off too.
i lowesided into a turn...prior to crash, 75...after scrubbing off some speed...55 or so...frame slider did it's job...i had some minor scratches and what not...but they do work, even at fast speeds. but the point of them is to take the impact so your frame doesn't hit the pavement first or hard...
as far as all the other slider stuff...not necessary.

many people get them to protect the plastics...but it's not what they are made for.
i saw an R6 with every slider known to mang...when i was in norcal...i think that if the **** ever crashes, the bike will slide and slide...off a cliff, into a guard rail, etc...

babygirl you can go to my album and you'll see my bike with the extended ones. as tahoe stated the sliders are really for the frame and not the plastic. my hope is that with longer ones, in a low or no speed situation it will help my plastic, at high speed the bike is the least of my concerns. i don't buy into the swingarm sliders because they are so small i can't see that little bolt giving much resistance and i go without bar ends just because i don't like the way they stick out

yea see thats another way of looking at it. I was thinking the longer the slider, the more protection your bike may have during a low or no speed fall. And your right if your going fast and you crash, the bike should be the least of my concerns. Very good point.
