Default Pulling gas tank dents

Anyone got advice on how to fix a dented fuel tank? It doesn't have to be perfect but I hope to make it look a little better. I'm thinking maybe try to get something curved like a crow bar in there to try to hit it from the inside.

Another option might be...
if you are lucky enough to have a contact that does bodywork, maybe you could pay them $50 and have them pull it...

google--> [stud weld dent puller]

It will only take about 20 minutes.
1) sand/wire wheel/carefully grind to metal
2) weld the studs in
3) pull from outside to inside

If you try something like a crow bar...I suppose a magician could make it work, but that wouldn't be the easiest or safest way to do it. You could puncture the tank that way (maybe).

I hear the tanks are so thin it's hard to get a good weld without blowing a hole all the way through it. I don't have much welding experience but I have family who is decent at it.

I've been there and done that--with a CBR600 (forgot what year).
I took it to a local contact and he did an awesome job, at a bargain too.
So it could be done well if you find the right person.

Just fill it, you will get a better finish anyway, there is quite a lip to stop you getting something inside anyway.
Do some research on welding petrol tanks too, it's dangerous, there's some proper horror stories out there.

No matter what, filler would need to be used. The purpose of pulling the dents is to limit shrinking and to reduce the risk of the filler to pop out. Not really any different than when a car is prepped for painting.

As far as welding the studs--definitely do it with the tank off the bike, with all the gas out of the bike, and then compressed air (or leaf blower) to flush out any residual vapors.

That’s a very odd place for a dent like that, how did it happen?

A deer jumped out in front of me while on the way home from buying the bike. I just remember the impact of the bike hitting the deer then feeling it land on my leg. I'm not sure how it ended up upside down but I guess it flipped forward. By the looks of it the tail was the first thing to come down.

Deer are scary as hell!

I ride at dawn in the summer and come across them occasionally, you can't tell which way they'll bolt.

Hope you didn't get as beat up as the bike
