Default project bike needs help

i bought my 1st bike a month ago. i've rode a lot of bikes but never actually bought one. Now i have a 1991 honda cbr 600 which i love to death. it runs good and is in decent condition at 23,000 miles. I want to do a lot to the bike but have no idea where to start. any suggestions?

no it doesnt.... i'm pretty sure it needs a new radiator and new fork seals. i think the guy just drove it around on his days off and never did anything to the bike. it's not in to rough of condition considering its a 91 model with 20,000 miles on it.

depending the condition it is, you want to do the basics. oil, brake fluid, coolant, tire pressure/ possibly new tires, chain inspection with possible new chain, sprocket check, lube cables, brake pads, rebuild calipers. Those are all basic maintenance stuff to make sure the bike is safe and ready. Some more fun stuff you can do is you can add ss brake lines, change the levers, hid, sprocket change, frame sliders, new windshield, those are all pretty common things

yeah i just put a new chain and both sprockets, oil changed and brake pads. i will deffinetly lube the cables. forgot about that! lol. i'm almost at the point to where i got everything safe and in good shape. Now im looking for comsmetic and mostly performance. I want to change the bike inside out and make it my little project. Thanks for the tips. Forgot about calipers and cables....that might be important!

There is tons of mods you can find in the mods section of the cbr 600 on this forum. I have did almost every mod on this forum to my bike and they are all pretty easy if you have any electrical or mechanical knowledge

how much do you want to do?

you can completely upgrade the front end to a newer model (like a 600rr or something) to give you USD forks, radial brakes, etc. (http://www.allballsracing.com/index.php/forkconvertion) - check that site out

guys on here (search cabbie for example) have modded to the point of building a new subframe to put a current model of rear tail on your bike.

you can get an ignition advance rotor to give you a lil more bottom end. jet the carbs. you can even do more motor mods (but they're really expensive and your return on hp/money is really small)

there's tons you can do. your imagination/money/time you want to spend are the only limitations
