Preload adjustment

I downloaded the manual yesterday and have been trying to find how to check what my pre-load is setting on. It sits really really high compared to my last bike and looks to be set on 7.

I know the factory setting is at 3, but would this make the bike sit up 1 - 1.5" higher than normal?

Also anyone know where i could find a spanner wrench in a local auto shop.....auto zone, harbor freight or something. Went to harbor freight yesterday but they didn't know what i was talking about and went away empty handed.

Would it go by another name ??

Are you adjusting preload on the front or rear?

Find a buddy with a 600rr, in their tool kids, there is a spanner wrench. I just stole my friends as he never uses it.

Its the rear shock I'm trying to adjust, just called all the dealers around here and all of them said they would have to order one. Going to try a long flat head or breaker bar and a hammer when i get home.

Anyone think these would work better: Dont want to jack nothing up with my shock banging on it with a hammer.

Thx for the link, i found some on sears website im going by their store sometime this week to see if they have them in stock. Seems my parts are being shipped the slowest route possible, so it will be week after next before i need to worry about adjusting to ride it.

Well, not sure what model bike you have, but check on ebay to see if someone is selling the tool kit for your bike. It includes (or should) the spanner for making that adjustment.

i was hoping to find a heavier duty one, i had one that was for my 78' Honda hawk but it just bent when i tried to use it. Read the review on the link and it seems to be about the same.

This one works better than the other one mentioned above.
