No worries Fingers, when ever you get a chance...I'm anxious to see what it'll look like all black. I think I'm gonna keep the flat black on the swing arm...I'm gonna try to change everything silver on the bike to black so i think the shifter linkage, dogbones, shock mounts and engine covers are what I'm focusing on now.

So here is the new plan with the front. I'm gonna buy a set of '05-'06 forks (so then they'll be inverted) and get them pc'ed black, but that will be the start of next winter's project, i think, along with having the seat sub frame done black also. That gives me all summer to find a nice set of forks at a good price. Then I'll simply swap them and sell the mint '04 forks next winter.

It's gonna look nice all gloss black, fingers.

do me a favor....as you do it, take pics...i am curious to see what you do...i have been doing the "black conversion" for some time now....i found a solution to blacken the steel bolts and nuts so i can just color all the stock pieces....so that will save mea ton of time and money...but i am curious to see the other things you do...i already painted my rear brake fluid res black although i will be getting a rizoma anno red one at some point...

anyways...document it if you can...it's fun...lol

Check out my ghetto wrenching style...ratchet straps from the microlam in my basement...lol...

The more I look at the bike, the more I think eveything except the engine block will be black ...except for what's already blue, of course.

Next I'll do the engine covers...any advice you got for doing those?

The snap ring holds the pivot bearing in on the right hand side of the swing arm...at least in the '03-'04...

Sorry for pic quality, but you should get the idea...

Fingers...here is a pic of the seals/bearings that me and my boy removed form the lower shock arm mount...as of right now, when we get the bearings out of the dog bones (which is the hardest piece because it's so flimsy), I have the swing arm, upper and lower shock mounts, dog bones, passenger pegs and shifter link arm going to pc by the weekend, if everything goes right.

The book makes it look so easy...but it's a pain to get all these seals/bearings out...

I've been there done that with the powdercoating s/a and frame . I went ahead and took the bearings out for the whole operation. I didn't want them getting sandblasted or warped by heat. Thats just my two cents tho. Heres a pic.
