Possible Coolant issue?

Its been awhile since ive been on but i need some help now.

I washed my bike today and started it up after to go ride. It started right up but sounded like it was cold so i let it sit for a few minutes. No temperature popped up on the gauge and it kept making a sound like (vrump vrump vrump vrump). I blipped the throttle and it died. I started it again and hit the throttle and smoke started to come out of the exhaust. I shut it down and took a look and noticed that my coolant bottle has a hole in the top portion of it with maybe 1/2 inch of coolant in it. I take the radiator cap off and it is bone dry in there. It ran fine 2 days ago and hasnt been ridden since.

Im wondering if i got a hole in the coolant bottle and over the past 2ish weeks(last time i did my inspections) the coolant has been evaporating from it and now it has caused something to get heated and a seal maybe is screwed?

The last time i rode it the temperature was never above 180.

Any idea?

If its as you describe, you're prob ok. Just replace the bottle, fill it & system w/ fluid, & test.

Alright so I fixed the bottle and started to flush the system. I recovered about 2qts from the bike on the first drain so it wasn't empty like I thought. I filled it with distilled water and drained it again. i only keep getting 2qts out which is about what I pour in. The manual says the cooling aystem capacity is 2.99qts. Am I missing something here?

There will some residual in the system. Since you've flushed it twice, top it off & check level per manual. Run & check again. GTG.
