The reason I didn't want to go through the Honda dealership is because they didn't even have key blanks. I would've had to wait for the blanks to get in and blah blah blah. Anyways I just want to know if the procedure for removing the ignition switch requires removing fairings, etc. That way I can do it in the morning before work and have the key made in 20 minutes. So can anyone let me know what the procedure involves in both tools and work.

Go do yourself. Honda dealership in Puerto Rico is not like the dealerships stateside. They need the code for my key and I don't have that. On top of that, they don't have blanks so they would have to order it and all of this nonsense in the end costs me $50+. Even the guy at the dealership told me to pull the ignition and have it done at a local locksmith. I ask because, yes I am new to CBR's and sportsbikes in general, and I don't have time to head 50+ miles to the dealer. A little help is all I asked for. If you have nothing constructive to say then please don't post. I am trying to get this bike started before my son is born. That is all.

Get a Honda manual. Not hard to take out an ignition. Unplug a wire, use torque's style sockets (break off the safety pegs inside of the bolt head) and voila. Done. Might have to take off the upper, depends on how creative you are.

Whoa buddy, you took the ignition out... what's next, putting air in your tires all by yourself?
