please help if you can :)
hi everybody, i was wondering if anyone could advise me, i have a cbr600fw (1998) the problem is........ when i start it, it idles and revs no problem, the rev counter then goes straight to 15000 r.p.m. When i ride it, it loses power when i pull back the throttle and i need the choke full on, top speed is no more than 30 m.p.h. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, The rectifier and c.d.u. are working, the pulse generator is also working, The carbs are also working. The battery is also in good order. If anyone knows how i can fix my bike could you please please help me, many thanks Paul
Problem sounds to me to be directly related to carbs. Maybe they are sticking, or there's dirt somewhere. I'd start with cleaning them, or running some seafoam through them to see if it helps.
If not, stripping and cleaning all jets etc .......
Your accellerator cables are correctly fitted and the return springs on the carb butterflys are all OK I assume ?
If you need a manual go to
www.stephygee.com
and download one-free

you really cleaned the carbs and fuel lines? I had this same problem with two of my bikes and it was always related to dirty or clogged carbs and fuel lines.
The fact that you need the choke full on to get it to run means that it is a fuel delivery/carb problem. start from the gas tank and clean again =(
