what bike do you have?

Is it modded in anyway?

Do you run with your highbeams on in the day?

I personally dont like them, but if your really worried about it, you can buy a flasher for your headlight. It pulsates the lights intensity for low to high so you stand out more.

wear brighter colors.. a bright colored helmet goes along way.

stay out peoples blind spots if your in a passing lane. Not that cars look for bikes anyway, but get past cars as soon as you can and don't slowly go by them. This is also true for multiple lane roads. You dont want to ride next to a car, you want to be just in front of them so they know your there. But dont think they know your there, even if they look at you, always be ready to move if they decide to merge.

always ride to closest to the center line. If you ride on closer to the white line, cars won't be able to see you if your behind another car.

Make yourself as visible as possible and take extra care to make sure others will see you.

I don't know that the fog lights would help much. running with your high beams on in the day should be good enough.

I have a 98 f3. I had yellow fog lights on when I bought it. It was hooked up to a relay - the lights get HOT even when driving..so I don't use them much unless its night and the 3 lanes around me are a little packed - but the charging system seems to handle it - and I used to have stator issues so I've redone a lot of it.

Hi geezer. Feel your pain. My wife & I have a running joke btwn us...when we ride like jerks, we're ok...if we ride like the responsible attention to detail careful riders that we really are - we damned near get killed! ;D It would make more sense if you actually knew us...we're both very experienced w/ many yrs of riding on dirt, street, track. We take riding very seriously & try to educate cagers that don't have a clue, about paying attention to their surroundings on the road. As we both ride on a daily basis, we encounter at least one idiot cager ea day who have their attention on anything & everything but the road. :\

Ride safe & be careful out there. Its a jungle!

^^ yea i kinda agree with that... i feel like as a rider, it is ALMOST NECESSARY to weave in and out of traffic because im always contemplating what the person infront of me is about to do, or the person behind me as well. I know it sounds stupid but when i ride normal with traffic, i had people stop short and bump me from behind or dam near brake hard infront of me... I try to stay ahead of packs of traffic instead of inbetween and if u gotta ride the lines, then so be it...

and im guessing ur bike is stock, i persolly like shorty pipes or loudmouth mufflers because it allows me to be heard and when i do ride the lines (i dont all the time but), people move away from me

I ride with the idea that every car, truck, van & pedestrian are all out to get me. You have to ride defensively all the time. As you ride keep practicing & formulating your emergency strategies for every stretch of road until it becomes 2nd nature.
An old biker philosophy: Most road users are only threatened by anything their size or bigger, so your right in saying "Presence" is all important, (unfortunately from the sounds of it, you live in a town where most of the road users are dicks).
Lights on, what a joke, here in S'tralia it was legislated that all bike head lights be wired so that they remained on permanently, no "Off" switch, made SFA difference & so 15 or so years later they are deciding to drop the idea. Nothing like riding with the Sun behind you with your headlights making you totally invisible to oncoming traffic.
My advice, forget the lights, dress like this & see the buggers get right out of the way.

My job as a Comcast tech means I have a Ford E-350 XL as a work vehicle. Its bigger than most pickups and as large as a Hummer. You'd be amazed how many idiots in Mini-Coopers pull out in front of me... someone in a fully insured work vehicle that means nothing to him if crushed.

I've given up on daylight visibility and gone for extreme maneuverability. Forget the Twisties, I ride in the Cities

yea, i ride in worcester mass, pretty busy city, manuverability definitely trumps visibility,if im in a lane for more than a minute im having a good day,

funny thing is.....i get cut off mostly by snobby rich looking people that dont like rice rockets......but the guy in a beat up escort with a suzuki sticker in his back window give me plenty of room

even the harley guys never try to kill me
