One more sound I need help with -
OK so my chain was the reason for some chirping sounds my bike was making. I haven't replaced it yet so it may be the reason for this sound too but just wanted to get some ideas....
When I hit 7500 rpm the bike starts whining. Once I get past 8500 rpm it goes away. The only way to describe the sound is when my key chain sits a certain way it will vibrate loudly until I adjust them. The sound is similar to that if it makes any sense....

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say it's normal. Mine does it too, but it starts after 5K. It did before and still does it after the CCTL swap. I think the reason you can't hear it past 8500 is due to wind noise, but it's probably still present. If you sit there and listen to every single little sound an engine makes while running, it'll drive you crazy
But, good thing you figured out the other noise was the chain, that chirping is probably metal to metar friction. I'd change it asap, or at least soak it in oil; yikes!

As with all weird nose issues, it's a hard one to answer really without actually hearing it ..
It very well could be as Incognito says ...
What I will say is that near all CBR's have some type of engine sounds ..
Some will rattle a bit , some will whine a bit and it really does not mean that it is a problem..
With most modern helmets , visors closed , I find it hard to hear most of the noises mine makes at high RPM's ..
If the noise clears after 8,000+ RPM I would say that there is a good chance allot of your sounds are coming from the drive line still ..
What happens at around the 8000+ RPM in most cases unless you are really pushing the engine hard right through to red line! ?... is that the torque load on the drive line might be tending to back off a bit and this could explain why it seem to go away ...
