Several brands are marketed for motorcycle use. You have to remember that the oil not only lubricates your engine, but also your transmission and clutch! DO NOT USE AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE OIL!
Typically the manufacturers specify 10w40 weight "motorcycle" oil for liquid cooled engines, and 10w50 for oil cooled.
I've been using Castrol 10w40 motorcycle oil, and have had no problems with premature breakdown of the viscosity, and I do like to ride hard.

I buy mine online after doing a Google search for the best prices. I quickly learned that my local Honda dealer charges way too much for genuine Honda brand oils and filters. I bought the same thing online for a whole lot less, no sales tax and usually free shipping.
I'll send you a PM since they're not a site sponser. You can pretty much find great deals by doing a Google search for the type of oil or filters you're looking for.
I run purolator filters (sometimes regular, sometimes pure one depending on my mood....14610(longer) or 14612(shorter)) and I run Rotella oil in all my bikes. Normally I run the Rotella T6 Synthetic ($20/gal), but I also run the regular white bottle dino stuff ($11/gal).
Thanks guys, i decided to run some High dollar Castrol syntec in min and found an oil filter part number from a car that works perfect for a CBR as well.3qts put it right at the full line.
Not completely true.
Any motor oil that is JASO MA or MA2 rated is safe for our wet clutches.
Like Trout, I run the Rotella T6 with a PureOne filter.
