i have an 06' cbr1000rr my oil light comes on when the bike idles
but when i give it a little gas or orride it goes off
any ideas on what it could be

 

Oil pressure is low.

When you rev the bike, the pressure comes up to normal limits. I get the same annunciation in the cockpit when i'm flying sometimes at idle.

Some cars have an oil pressure needle that you can see jump up and down as you go from idle to above idle as well.

Add some oil and problem solved.

 

do you know how much oil a 06 cbr1000 holds

 

dunno. I've heard 3.3 quarts. Anyone?

 

fill it to the middle of the sight gauge. I googled it, looks like 3.8

 

well i have checked and added a little more
and the light still comes on when the bike idles
any more ideas

 

Do you have an oil leak?

 

NO leak i park in the same place in the garage
on a carpet and no leak i just dont know what it could be

 

Have done any mods?
