update!!!
have found out is the main 30 amp fuse that is blowing. i have replaced the fuse, ran bike for 20 minutes and at the end of the tirp bike again blew the fuse and lost all electrical. i am thinkning it has to be a short somewhere.. again any help would be appreciated, i don't know where to start looking for the short.

Are you able to identify the problem. I had the same issue, none of the neutral, side signals, oil lights are glowing. I checke the fuse and 15amp (98-F3) fuse blowed up and I replaced with the spare one. It was ok for two days and just now it all those lights are not glowing. I'm at work so couldn't check the fuse but i'm pretty sure it is fuse. What might be causing the fuse to blow again and again.

ORIGINAL: socket

fuse blowed up
LOLOLOL!!!!!!!! thats funny, umm well when a fuse 'blows' it is because more amps are crossing the circuit than it was designed for, thus preventing that amperage from reaching whatever the fuse is protecting. there has to be a short which is allowing the wire to ground thus creating more current than wanted. GOLDEN RULE: BEFORE RAPLACING A FUSE, FIND OUT WHY IT IS BLOWN. and dont substitute wiring or any kind of jumper to hold the place of the fuse, as this defeats the purpose and you will end up messing something up for real.

This problem has happened to me a few time with my 96. The first time it was the regulator/rectifier.This I hear is a bit of an issue. Mine was a bit bad actually, it melted the plug and a small section of wire. I cut the tape off and inspected the wires soldered and heat shrunk new wires on. bad that I hear is extreme. That was all good for about 2 years, now started agin, and it has been driving me nuts. I cut the harness back open rechecked, installed another regulator and checked every ground, connector, and component and nothing yet. It doesn't happen as often as when the regulator went the first time either, now it is very dependent on RPM and load on the engine. I tested stator, it's ok.....so to make a long story short, the resistor i've heard is common and touch to duplicate to test as bad. Good luck, keep updated.
