If you have a way to get the front end up off the ground, its a pretty simple procedure. If you've a got a few hours to spend on it, I say do it.

Did you buy new forks because your current seals were leaking, or just new seals? Or was it something worse?

You need a swingarm stand and a steering stem stand ... after that just straightforward removal and replacement. Make sure to measure height above triple tree before removing old forks. A shop manual with torque values would be a nice thing to have also. The stands and manual pay for themselves after 1 job plus you get up close and personal with your baby (the bike ... not your boy toy).

Its really easy.. I just used ratchet straps and hung my bike by a tree in my yard (yes very redneck way but it worked great)..Its very self explanitory you should have no problem it took me about 2 hours total to pull my frontend off replace the bearings on the steering stem and put it all back together and that was my first time ever pulling off a frontend..
