Default Need some help please!!

I have a 01 F4i and all the wiring up front is completely jacked up from the previous owner which is causing the bike to act up on me. The back light on the cluster goes in and out and when I turn the handlebars to the right the bike dies, turn back to the left or straight it fires right back up. All of my harnesses are in a ball up front by the forks which I think could be my problem. I saw a F4i sitting in a parking lot so I looked to see how his was routed and could not see a single wire which I think is how it is suppose to be. Also I don't know if this matters or not but I do not have the inner fairing by the radiator as it broke off when the previous owner dropped the bike.

Can anyone post pics of how the wiring is suppose to be routed on these bikes like by the forks and ram intakes? I looked in the service manual but couldn't find anything of much help. I can post pics of how mine currently is if this helps.

Thanks

What a mess ^. The BAS is the little black box sitting on top of the bird's nest. Your best bet might be to buy a used wiring harness; depending
on the extent of damage to the one you have (less than $100). If it's still serviceable, then download a Service Manual which illustrates the
proper routing and will help you diagnose potential problems: LINK. Good Luck

I will try to take pictures of my ball of wires tonight. I have downloaded the service manual and it has a wiring diagram(which is hard as hell to read) but all that tells me is what wires do what. It doesn't show me how they are suppose to be routed on the bike. Am I missing something?

Yeah there isn't an exact way to get everything right without pictures or someone else's bike. My mess up there wound up nice but I don't know if they were perfectly routed. The only wires I can think of up front are the BAS, gage plug in and the turn signals. It has been awhile since that F4i. I ran all my wires along the under side of the frame then right through the forks. Plug in the headlights the gage cluster and the BAS and turn signals. The Bas mounts to the fairing stay. Everything should fall in place somewhere. Does the bike have the front cowl and stock lights?

Yeah the bike has the front cowl on it and headlights and all that. The bike runs and runs pretty darn good when it does. Just randomly shut off some times. I know the BAS is mounted correctly in between the head lights. Its all the sub harnesses that I know are not routed correctly. Attached is some pictures, there the best I could get without taking off the front cowl. I will post more pictures once I take it off. probably next weekend.

Ok first make sure your battery terminals are tight... I know but just check anyway it can really mes with you. You are probably going to have to take the front cowl off and check your grounds to see if they are secured. Check all the plug ins. I think that maybe when you turn your forks are pulling on a wire or plug. take the cowl off and see if you can tell where it may be pulling on the wires. Someone that currently has a F4i will have to help after that I sold mine a few years ago. Sorry

Battery terminals are tight. I have checked those lots of times. A couple weeks back the bike was dead for 2 weeks. During that time I took the front cowl off and went through every wire to find the problem. It was a loose connection at a ground wire in one of the sub harness. Problem is I put it back together the way it was thinking that was the right way until now. So anyone with an F4i please post pics of how the wires are suppose to be routed at the front harness.

Thanks
