Need to restore Ninja 500R
Yeah so I have this Kawasaki Ninja 500R, and it use to be my old bike. Well it's a 2006 and it's been sitting in my garage for about five months without being ridden or maintained. I am working on getting it restored now.. I just recharged the battery with a trickle charger. Any other recommendations? It won't start... it just turns. Carbs probably need cleaned. Thanks guys.

kteman:
go to ex-500.com and register. we have a large user base of strictly ex500 enthusiasts. and a handful of EX500 experts.
your first post should be in the introduction forum, your second post should bea carbon copy of this with more specific info as to what happens exactly when you push the starter button. ok?
thanks.

RE: Need to restore Ninja 500R
really? you sure? you're guessing.
you don't know if there's fuel in the tank.
you don't know if the petcock is on
you don't know if the carburetors have gas
you don't know if there's spark
you don't know if the starter is actually turning the engine of just itself... (which is a well known problem with the ex500)
shall i go on?

Ok, thanks guys. Actually from my diognosis it is the carbs that are clogged. Fuel looks good (no rot or varnishing), spark plugs are fine I think, battery is full, petcock is on . I had gotten it started a few months ago and it ran like ****, which indicated to me clogged carbs. My next step is to clean it. I will try posting on the 500 forums.
