Default need help on timming

just put my engine back togather after replacing my shift forks,need help on timming it. i line all the marks up but when i put the tenchin(spelled wrong) bolt in for the chain everything moves out of place and the timming is off again.i have tried everything any advice would be helpful. thanks

When you put the Tensiong bolt in and it takes up the slack it will probably move the shafts a little bit. You should be able to turn the engine over a little by hand (do not use the starter) and it should line back up. If it don't then you are probably off a tooth somewhere. Good luck

Make sure your slack is on the adjustor side and the side without the adjustor is tight so when the adjustor is released it will not move the marks.

It will work just keep persisting

If everything is lined up then there's no problem. What JAA600 said -- it'll all move the same amount. Just put the tensioner in and realign the marks. If it is off then you jumped a tooth before you put the tensioner back on. Shift forks are a pain in the butt -- there really should be an easier way to change the bastards[:@]
