My 99 900RR was running the same way last fall. I changed the plugs, adjusted the valves, (only two were out of spec, and not by enough to make much difference), and I cleaned the carbs and changed the jets. When I synchronized the carbs they were out by quite a bit, which I'm hoping was my problem, but here in NH there's too much snow and ice to ride, (or ride a sportbike at least), so I'm not sure if it's rightyet, plus I changed the exhaust and put in a K&N filter. Mine only has 10000 miles, but at 35000 it'spast due for it's second scheduled valve adjustment if it hasn't been done. Hopethis helps-good luck!

Yes, it's shim under bucket. That means there's a shim on top of the valve stem, and the "bucket" goes over that and slides up and down in the bore around the spring, andmakes contact with the cam lobe.

Mr. Err...thanks for letting us know that the seepage at the resevoir is what was causing your problem...to us it was a cold case still.

Some of the old Hondas used to have an adjustment screw and locknut on the rocker arm-I think the 50's still do. I actually got to ride my CBR today for the first time in months! It warmed up today and the ice melted off my driveway, (which is a steep hill). I rode about 15miles, and spent over an hour cleaning the salt off my bike! Just to let you know 900RR Rider, it ran great today, but I made several changes so I'm not positive as to what was wrong before, but I think it was because of the carbs. At 35K just make sure your valves are right so you don't burn them up.

I would take it to a shop and have the carb's sync'ed or if u are wrench savy u can do it your self . I would also recomend the Valve ADJ. just to be on the safe side . More then likely tho your carbs are outta Sync .
I own a 94 cbr 900rr and I have had a total of 5 of them so far . Most common problems with them are the Voltage reg rec , Carbs , Valves , and noobies /Squides riding a litre bike b4 they know what they have gotten themselves into . Best bet is go to your local Honda shop and ask a tech. They should be a good source of info for ya !
