How about the kill switch, I've heard those can go bad sometimes.

I'll allow it to crank over, but it won't start. There is a bank angle sensor bypass you can do to it (temporary) to see if that's it. LINK
Are you sure you have the large grey connector on the left side hooked up?

As Inognito said, it will still crank over, but the fuel pump will not prime if the BAS is bad. Can you hear the fuel pump kick on when first turn on the key?

Did the bike just develop this problem?

Or is there more to the story?

Not an expert but... The ecu thing seems like a definite possibility. Also, the headlights could be the issue. If the wiring is wrong or not connecting the fuel pump won't prime. Just suggestions.

Its going to be very hard to diagnosis this one. Especially since someone else has already replaced things and may not have done it correctly.

As far as the ignition, it shouldnt matter. these arent coded keys or anything. Unless you have a European version with HISS. Those have coded keys. and a standard ignition will not work. I would make sure its wired up correctly. As long a it is, it wont matter.

Does your gauge cluster work?

Seeing that this guy replaced the headlight, make sure the upper sub wiring harness that leads to the gauge and headlight is connected properly. I would unplug and plug it back in.

You have several relays that will need to be check as well along with several fuses.

the tailight should not dim as you said. Its either wired up wrong, a wire is shorting out, or the guy is missing a ground somewhere in the wiring harness, which could also explain why some other things are not working. there are several ground leads coming from the harness, make sure they are all connected securely.

As for pulling codes. Im not sure if any of that would help your situation. these systems arent as complex as a car where you can get complete data. Your going to have to go about it the old fashion way and do a whole lot of measuring with a multi-meter to see whats getting power and whats not. I would give the dealership a call and see what they say, they may be able to tell what sensors arent reading. I may be wrong, but I dont think there is a scanner that will help, but its worth a call anyway.

lights work high and low turns work both sides gluster works when i start it the lights come on and speedo needle goes all the way up and comes back down like it should im trying to go through all the wiring now could it be a engine stop relay or fuel pump relay i tried to bypass the engine stop relay and when i did that the bike kicked on even without the key in it is that normal and the bike turns over like it wants to start just no fuel or spark is there a way to bypass or hotwire the bike just to check the ignition
