My key wont start my bike?!?
2 monthes ago, before I tore my bike down, I had a key...this key came with the bike, and believe it or not, you could use it turn on the ignition!
Well, 2 monthes later, my bike is all pretty and in one main piece, and I go to throw my key in and make sure everything is working.
For the first 15 minutes that I could only get the key to rotate to "ON"...only the oil pressure light would come on, and stay on. NOTHING else electrical would function.
I decide its a futile effort, but I'll install the kick-stand to see if that helps...WHALLA! Its all working! But my ket still wont turn past the "ON" position...to "IGNITION"
I did remove the ignition to clean it, but I didnt disassemble it. Please help, I need to hear all my time/effort start up!

What sort of bike have you got? On mine (& most that I have seen) you turn the ignition 'On' (clockwise) & then hit the starter button. "Ignition" is just on there to tell you that's where the key goes to turn on the electrics needed to start the bike. Button is located on right bar close to the throttle with either 'start' or a circle with a squiggle through the center (lightning bolt?)

How to start ur bike
1: turn the key to on so u see all the lights and everything
2: put bike in nuetral and there is a button on the right handle with a lightning bolt on it (right under the big red killswitch) push that button if bike starts congrats ur done
3: if bike does not start push the big red killswitch so its not on the setting that it was just on.
4: push the lightning bolt button again bike should attempt to start.
if none of these steps work get back on here let us know well get it running

i had a 600 f4 the key only turns to the on idicator after that its just pushing the start button on the right handle bar the key does not turn to anything that says ignition, theres a steering lock, then the off position then the on position and thats it. so when you turn it to on and the lights and everything come on and hear the fuel pump click on your ready to hit the start button to fire it up
