Default More waiting till bike gets out of shop!!

So I put my bike in the shop last week for a trip inspection to see why it is running hot. Well they finally called me today and said he worked on it all day. Im like great.... he said that my cooling system is shot. My water pump needs rebuilt and brake pads are touching metal. And about 5 other things but tuned him out when he said the price lol. $760 bucks lol. At first iIwas like holy crap, but then I realized once they done it will be like a brand new bike. So i accepted. and now I have to wait 10 more days till i hear from them, then another week to install everything. I can't take all this waiting. Has anyoone every experienced this long wait and cant take it anymore. Tell me your stories.

Tougher to wait when bike is not by your side....but it is worth it to have it done right..

underoath, 17 days! for cooling system stuff....

cobra, 3 weeks! for what???? fork seals? couple hours or so.

what kind of shops are you guys going to? the entire bike could be rebuilt, with paint, in 3 weeks. this is why you should work on them yourself. a couple of days to get the parts and a day to put them on. faster, cheaper, and more satisfying. if you cant do it, have someone that can help you, and learn.

So THAT's how shops stay in business.

Changing brake pads seriously takes about 15 minutes, but I'm sure they're charging you $50 for the labor alone.

Yea 74demon they took there sweet *** time with it, I told my friend to pick it up and take it to another shop. Do you guys rebuild your own forks? I want to buy a nice vise and the tools to do it, just haven't got that far, shops around here charge $60 ea to pull off the bike, $60 ea to rebuild and parts, total was like $290.

yes, many of us do. look in the service manual and see if it's something you feel good about tackling. if you can get them off the bike and take them to a shop with your parts, that will save $60, the cost of the parts, and speed them up if you dont want to attempt it. (call them first so they know youre coming and can do it in one day)

consider getting new springs that matches your weight. the stockers are set up for a 140lb rider. theyre not that expensive, like $109/pair from racetech.

A good local mechanic is hard to find.....unless you have all the tools necessary for the job, everyone needs a good mechanic when there is a job you cannot tackle. It's tough but shops out there they need to charge for there overhead of running there facility. Like what Demon said, at the least understand how to disassemble and take it there to get it done.

Many times when any members ask for suggestions...after they committed....it's money well spent. But if it's prior to committing into a service contract, then we'll be more frank about your options...

Yeah they probably gonna charge 80 bucks just for labor for the both brakes that i can do at the house. To answer your question on what shop i took it to. See this is my first ever honda anything. I have been a suzuki dude all my life. Still have 3 dirtbikes in garage and i always take them to the ACTION SUZUKI dealership off the highway. SO when they said hey we will work on your cbr. I was like sure why not. I have tried tackling everything i know how to solve the cooling problem. And since there is not a honda bike shop no where near where i live, that was closest place i could take it without it overheating and making more damage to the engine. So the guy called tuesday. Said he will order the parts and get the ball moving. It will be 10 days till he calls back when parts arrive.... then another stupid 3-5 days to install and everything. I move out no new apartment with wife on the 30th of may and need my bike. I wish the gave rentabikes lol
