Lithium ion battery won't crank
I bought a Powersports lithium ion battery for $100. Also got a Bike Master lithium ion battery charger. It cranked my 2007 Honda CBR1000RR once. Thereafter, it will not crank. I heard you have to warm up the battery by turning on the light. Does not work. It has 300CCA but will not crank. But my old AGM battery does. Are lithium ion batteries just weak?

Have you got a meter to check voltage ? It would be handy to know what you have at the battery before and during your start up procedure. Best of luck mate |
13.4v
I measured 13.4Volts but still won't crank. Let it warm up for 5 mins. Still won't crank. My old AGM battery cranks it.
|
How low does the voltage drop during the attempt at cranking?
|
My thoughts exactly 74Demon Volts should not drop below 9.5 during crank. Is there a manufacturing date on your battery or box it came in. Best of luck mate |
There's no date. Just a long serial number or something. Let me go try the 9.5V thing.
|
It drops to 11.4V during crank. But engine still will not turn over. When I put back my old AGM battery it starts.
|
That should be plenty of vollts to crank it.
Any idea how many amps are flowing? Test both batteries and compare. |
I think that is the problem. The lithium ion is measuring 74amps on the black wire. It advertises 300CCA but apparently not getting it. The old AGM one went over 74amps to 79amps and the bike started. The lithium ion did start the bike one time only. But now it just will not. But the lithium ion battery is so much lighter and looks really good too.

If it doesn't work, then how it look and how light it is really doesn't matter.
