Default LED Strips

Recently I had the thick Street Fx LED strips that went on the inside of my lower cowls closest to the ground. I've replaced them twice due to melting because they are so near to the exhaust pipes. I really do like that they are in that spot because they glow on the ground which gives a cool effect, but I don't enjoy replacing them every three months. Any ideas what I should do?

This time around, I bought flexible LED strips that are thinner and less bulky than the ones before.

Not sure what you should do, but I want to see the pic with strips on. Do you have?

Yeah I would say exhaust wrap...but if you think that's ugly then it kind of defeats the point of installing LED strips to make it look good..

Here's a pic with the old LED strips on my old plastics. You can see that they are melted in certain spots:

Does that wrap directly onto the headers? Does that effect anything engine-wise? Where can I get it?

Cool LED placement first off, I like that a lot. And just google "Header wrap" it's a pretty common item for race use. That would surely help, but you could also try using different materials to cover that part of the LED strip. Tin foil? Fiberglass? Try different things.

yes, header wrap is a cloth material (dont know its makeup) that wraps directly onto the pipe, keeping more hot gas in the pipe. it actually will gain a little power. the hotter the exhaust gas is when it exits the tail pipe, the more force it expands with creating a more powerful positive pressure wave in the exhaust. more powerful positive wave makes for a more powerful negative wave that scavenges cylinders of old burnt gas better allowing more room for air and fuel on the next intake stroke. now mind you the change isnt big.....maybe a hp or 2 max.....but it will help a little and save your leds while ur at it lol. they sell it in black too so it wont stand out so much
