Default LAzy...

Ok, so i have to put a new clutch oil seal in, which goes just under the clutch linkage inside the right side (clutch) engine cover. However, i just did an oil change, and i don't really feel like spendin the money for another one. So, someone suggested that i just lay the bike on it's left side, pull the engine cover, replace the seal, replace the cover, stand her back up and problem solved---no need to drain the oil.

Anyone see any problems with this???

That sounds very dangerous, not to you but the bike. Where does all that oil go that is supposed to stay in the lower part of the case? Can it seep past the rings and get to the injectors and plugs causing damage to them? I'd just suck it up and change the oil. If you really want to save money use the same filter you have installed now.

Who ever told you that needs to pull thier head out of there butt. That just seems rediculous! Laying the bike down! Duh.

It you are going to switch the seal you might as well change the oil at the same time.

LOL!!!! Tahoe, that might be the funniest response i've heard in a long time.

Thanks for the input guys...i was pretty sure that i didn't want to get any oil into the stator anyways, but i was just makin sure. Prolly just drain it into a clean pan, and re-use it. It's only got about 400 miles on it.

Can't you use a funnel and hose to drain the oil to use it again? If you use a motorcycle lift, and have the bike upright, there shouldn't be much leakage.
