Kickstand ? for lowered bikes
Hey everyone, I bought an 05 600RR and the bike has been lowered by the original owner by 1". The problem is when I go to park it I have to watch the levelness of the ground, to flat or level and the bike doesn't lean much at all. I have thought of cutting the flat off of the bottom of the kickstand and a little off the round part then welding the flat back on. Has anyone ever had this problem and how did you solve it? Are there any neat (billet etc.) aftermarket kickstands or is this the only way. Dont really want to go through the hassel of cuttung, welding, grinding, painting etc if there is an easier or better lookingway. Thanks

RE: Kickstand ? for lowered bikes
You can do a google for aftermarket kickstands, but it really isn't that much of a hassle getting your kickstand cut and welded. My bike's lowered an inch and it took maybe 30 minutes for the mechanic to cut and weld my kickstand. He let it stand overnight to cool/harden, then slapped it on my bike the next day. $30 and a day (left my bike up on stands overnight @ his shop) and that solved the kickstand problem.
I've seen lowered bikes with custom kickstands you'd see on cruisers--very low with a wide-out footprint...sort of like the Arlen Ness types. You can get one of those and mod it to fit your kickstand spring if you don't want to go through the cutting/welding process.
