ORIGINAL: chainstretcher

Does it alter the electrical output to the muffler bearings?
No, that is determined by the position of the exhaust servo. But it does have an effect on the stretch of the power band, especially if it's the plaid HRC one.

so im gonna take a wild stab in the dark ang say that this is where i need to mask my question. haha anyways i have an 05 1000rr and just recently noticed that my speedo is off by a considerable amount. so i was riding up to bike night the other night and i passed this caddy doing about 69 mph. well the funny thig is that i started to slow down and match speeds with him. i looked over and saw what his speedo was reading. it said 57 mph; well when i looked at mine i was doing exactly 67 mph! so why is my speedo off by so much? have all yall noticed this or am i just seeing thing? well any answers and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

hondadriver4life... you should start a new post for this question. You get the attention you need and you're not hi-jacking a thread. No big deal... just future info. What mods do you have on your ride? Since you're of by that much... I’ll assume you have other than stock gearing (sprockets). The bike's speed is an estimate based on the rpms of basically, the front sprocket/shaft. If you change rims/tires for different size or add and remove teeth from the stock sprockets... your speedo will reflect that. You have to buy a speedo healer to re-adjust it to be correct... think of the extra mileage you have on your bike right now.

Bike speedos are intrinsically off from the factory. Anywhere from 5% under to 7% over. Generally they read happy (over). If you've changed your gearing (minus front teeth or plus rear teeth) it will also affect the speedo. Your speedo is off by a bunch -- 18% so I'm guessing you have a bit of gearing change.

I just ordered the speedohealer from calsportbike (our sponsor) and it's easy to install and program. Plus he gives members a discount -- just mention CBRForum when ya order.

I also just installed my SpeedoHealer from calsportbike.com and it was very easy. I was able to get a precise speedo comparison between my GPS and my speedometer. I followed the computation instructions and now my speedo is right on. Next step is to install my 520 kit and reprogram the SpeedoHealer.

A full report to follow.
