Default ignition advancer

I want to know from the people who have/had them, if they liked them and if they would buy another one if they had the opprotunity for another bike? I also want to know if anyone has had any drawbacks after installing one? To me, it looks like a cheap effective way to produce a bit more power.

It is a great mod to perform on your bike. I have one on my 929 (140bhp) and about to install one on my 04 600RR. But since you are advancing your timing you must run 91+ octane.

I run 91 all the time even though the bike calls for 86. I do it just because the hot weather here in so cal. anyone else have any experience with these. I wanted to do this mod also.

Well I found a +4 and a +6 degree advancer. Right now, I believe my bike is jetted a tad bit rich so could I get away with running the +6? I've read different forums and some guys swear by them and others say they're worthless. Some dyno graphs show gains and others show none? Which advancer would be better for my bike? 4 degrees seems safe but then again 6 degrees could make more power?

i dont have one on my F4 but did on my 88 cbrf. It mainly lowers the power band, giving you more usable power sooner in the rpms. So it really wont raise the HP ratings of the bike itself but make the HP sooner. On the minus side tho it will take from the top end. If you ever messed with a cars timing or raced its the same theories. I wouldnt go past +6 tho, +4 or +5 is good, any higher and you risk detonation issues which can hurt your bikes engine.
