Default i just

spent like 8 hours taking off cleaning and putting back on my carbs i did everything, cleaned the jets. i cleaned everything on the carbs. but my problem is still there the bike idles perfect but when you get into high rpms in 2nd then shift to 3rd it just completely bogs out and you can't even go into to 4th 5th and 6th it just bogs out. anyone have a answer to my problem, i didn't sync or balance the carbs though. maybe it needs the valves cleaned and or adjusted to?

Do you have a jet kit? It sounds like the bike is jetted too lean and/or you have a tear in one or more of your CV diaghragms that is not allowing a difference in air pressure, thereby keeping the slides from opening up, causing a lean condition. Is this bike new to you? Did the problem just start happening out of the blue? If not, what did you do to the bike right before the problem started?

There's really a lot of things that could be wrong with it (vacuum leak, torn diaphragms, incorrectly installed diaphragms, lean jetting, etc.) Try taking off the airbox lid and air filter and crank it up. Look into the carburetors while giving throttle **Don't lean in too far because excess fuel will be spraying up out of the carburetors** and see if each individual slide is moving upwards when throttle is applied. If not, then one or more has a tear and/or installed incorrectly. Alternately, try running with the choke on and see if you can rev it any higher. This would def. indicate a lean condition.

What year and model bike?

odd problem indeed since the engine doesn't care what gear the bike is in. Full throttle is full throttle and the same amount of fuel will be dumped in regardless of speed. Knowing that the higher the speed, the bigger bogging issue does sound like it's getting too much air. (forced air into the airbox at those speeds would lean out the engine)

took off air filter cover and air filter watched the carbs, all of them opened at the same time oh and the bike is a 1996 f3. i can make it all the way through first no problem second takes awhile to get through but it'll hit redline in second then as soon as you shift into third just bogs out.
