How to get rid of goo that Goo Gone won't get gone?
Hola, folks.
I just picked up an '05 CBR 600 rr and a previous owner had some big cheesy aftermarket mirrors on it which he sealed with silicone. I've goo-gone'd the hell out of it, and it's helped some, but I still can get the base layer of glue or whatever off. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Its hard to say since there are several different grades and types of silicone. Some are harder to get rid of than others. But, I would first try wd-40. It may break the silicone down enough that you can rub the silicone off. You could also try a hair dryer. Warm up the silicone as much as you can without too much heat to damage the paint, then just use your finger and rub the silicone. Or, a last resort that I would take is go to an automotive store, and pickup some 3M adhesive remover. Its about as harsh as you can get without damage the underlying paint. Of course, some paints cannot stand up to it, so always do a test spot somewhere that won't be visible. Any method you use, you should just use your finger and rub across the silicone. It should begin to loosen the silicone and start to lift it.
