how do i get to the battery cbr600 98 model
My battery died after work today and I need to locate the battery and get it charged via a mate's car battery if that is safe. I have an inkling that the battery is under the seat but if so how do i get the seat off??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: how do i get to the battery cbr600 98 model
The light was fading when I went back to the bike and my mate and I ended up spending an hour trying to force the helmet holder mechanism to open more than it was managing. As I couldn't find any other catches on either side of the bike. Bump starting didn't work as I guess I really emptied the battery when I juet kept turning it over and over earlier on today when I thought it was going tospring to life.
i did get a text from my mother who had kindly checked out the manual which came with the bike but she mentioned catches...
'use key or coin in quick release fastener..turn 90 degrees counter clockwise so groove is horizontal then pull out prangs and ribs in order.gently pull off side cover..'
Where the hell is the catch for the seat?? DO i Need to take off both side covers first???Then where do I look. At least I know now for sure that the seat has nothing to do with the helmet holder at the rear left of the frame. But I am still completely lost.
please help!!!

you're being given bad information here!!!! There is no catch for the seat.
To remove the seat:
- remove left and right side/rear fairings (NOTE: the plastic black "screws" are only a quarter-turn (or so) fastener. they are not actually screws)
- remove the 12mm bolts that secure the rear of the seat to the subframe
The battery cover will be obvious.
