This spring im in need of a new set of sneakers for my F4. how do you break in new tires?? I know theyve got a really slippery coating on them thats supposed to stop dryrot in storage but is really bad for riding. Whats the best way to get it off??
Thanks

Get on your bike and ride cautiously. should wear off in a few miles. be careful when you test out the turning grip. you loose the front, it's a little harder than you think to bounce back... Instead, lean the bike in a straight line to wear off the edges.
just be careful.
just be careful.
Give it some corners. Take them slowly, gradually increasing lean angle until you have worn it off. Just take it slow. Dont stoppie or wheelie. Just riding in a straight line wont wear off the outer edges, just keep that in mind. 50 miles of freeway wont break your tires in properly. Find a curvy road and slowly increase your lean angle until you've reached an angle you are comfortable with, (meaning you dont want to go any further) or until the whole tire is scrubbed in.

A nice burnout....the new tires have a oil on them from the factory and you need to get it off. A burnout should get most of it off, and as stated above take it easy for alittle while.

heating tires up fast and letting them cool down will bring more oils to the surface of the tire, also doing a burnout will only clean off about an inch in the center of the rear tire, does nothing for the sides of the tire and its obviously the sides of the tires that needs to be scrubbed in, the center is irrelevant because if it loses traction when your straight up your obviously not going to crash just spin it up a little and even thats a long shot
also, doing a burnout won't do anything for the front tire which is the one that has to deal with braking forces and steering
just ride on em, but go easy for the first 50-100 miles or so, dont try to lean and ride like you would on the tires that are scrubbed in already, just take it easy and ride. thats how I scrub my tires in.
