Default High engine RPM when starting

Hello

I have a 01 F4i with around 8.6K in it. Its engine will start right at the first kick but the RPM will rev up almost 3K for at least 4-5 minutes before it drops down at normal 1.2-1.3K. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I know that the 929 & 954 does the same when you first start it, its a automatic fast idle system for cold starts! Maybe the same for the F4i

what's the temp you starting the bike at? if it's super duper code, the bike will do it until the engine comes up to temp...then it'll go back down.
if it's like super duper cold, then it will do this...but 4-5 minutes is too long for it to get to operating temps...unless it's truly that cold out, in which case, i don't think you should ride.

that's the automatic warmer so your bike isn't cold and stall. It will stay to around 3K for 2-3minutes till it reacches around 115 F
I usually leave when the bike is at 130ish

Thanks for the fast helps. It's around 60-70 degrees at my place. However, I don't have the airducts, maybe it's the problem. Also, new problem arose. Yesterday, my bike didn't start and kept vibrating and clicking sound from the under front seat area. Any suggestion? Should I replace the battery?
