Help. Something is connected to the positive terminal on battery
As well as my main connector there is a black plastic tube connected. It screws apart in to two parts and inside is a glass 10A fuse. It was casuing me problems starting - as in needed to shove it to get ignition lights on and then caused total electric cut out when I wis riding the bike.
If I disconnect it everything seems fine - is it safe to do this. Thanks in advance. |
A bit of a hard question really without seeing it and tracing it to its source..
but , as a rule , no loose separate connections except the main lead comes straight of the battery usually... I would trace the wire to its end , figure out if it is still in use and by what , then decide whether to disconnect it permanently... Sounds like it is shorting out?? if it plays havoc with your lights and power top the bike when connected .... I would leave it off as long as it is dead as a maggot ...LOL ( check it for any current at all when disconnected ) |
My guess is that someone had but in another fuse able link for get power to something else (positive lead to the battery & earthed at the source) & if it's no longer connected, then where ever that wire leads to is shorting out.

+1. NOTHING stock runs a separate lead to the battery, so it's something aftermarket. What aftermarket mods do you have that require power?

does it run to a toggle switch. maybe the internal fan doesnt work anymore so someone hookep up a diff fan and powered str8 off the batt like i did
