Default HELP!!! I'M THINKING OF GETTING MAGNESIUM MARCHESINI WHEELS

I've heard allot of different, conflicted answers???? Can I or should I buy marchesini magnesium wheels for street ridding???? I will lose allot of spinning weight, which is a big deal. I'm hearing there is a chance they might bend or crack on roads with pot holes. I live in florida, most of the roads are straight and the ones that turn and weave are usually newly paved roads. I'm worried about spending $2,500 dollars on wheels that might crack or bend..... I'm more worried about coming down too hard from doing a wheele than hitting a pot hole??? DOES ANYONE HAVE MAGNESIUM WHEELS, HAVE YOU HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. I REALY WANT THESE WHEELS, BUT IF I WAIT 2 WEEKS TO 2 MONTHS I CAN GET THE ALUMINUM ONES. BUT THEY ARE MUCH HEAVER. I'LL TAKE ALL THE ADVISE THAT I CAN GET! THANKS ADAM M SMULIK asmulik@adelhpia.net or 561-262-8575

Yup, i agree. Get Aluminum. Magnesium is light and all, but has a shelf life, and will crack. the loss in centrifugal weight you'll loose isn't something to get worked up over. it's going going to be enough to make a difference.

I'll third the Aluminum wheels. Magnesium is actually stronger and lighter than aluminum BUT it's also more brittle. This means it it will either crack or break instead of bending giving you a $1800.00 piece of junk, aluminum wheels will bend too but you can get them fixed reather easily for a couple hundred bucks. I've got Aluminum Marchesini's on my Duc, but I use to have of set of Magnesium Marchesini's for at the track, I've run both on the street & track I can hoenstly tell you; you WON"T be able to tell the difference on the street. On the track at full "race" pace is the only place I could really tell the difference between them.
