Default Headlight Question

Hello guys, new to the forum but a long time rider. I just picked up a '98 900RR a few weeks ago, fantastic bike. The guy that owned it put blue lights in it, which I hated. One of them burned out yesterday, and the remaining bulb got so hot that it began to melt the plug.

I bought some new GE bulbs specifically for motorcycles. The CBR calls for H4 bulbs, but specifies 45 watt bulbs. All H4 bulbs are 55 watts. The plugs are the same, but the bulbs won't fit without bending two of three tabs back (which had been done to the bulbs that were in the bike). Anyway, I bent the tabs back and put the bulbs in, they work fine.

Anyone had the same problem? Any reason that one bulb burning out would cause the other one to overheat?

Thanks!

Default RE: Headlight Question

most of the aftermarket bulbs are 100W and they will melt the hell out of your plugs.
