Default Headlight bulbs clarification / 2002

Machine is a 2002 CBR600 F4i. To replace a bad bulb in a stock light housing I should be looking for an H4 halogen bulb? The low beam side and the high beam each have only one filament in said bulb?

TIA,

Brian

Yup, same bulb just aimed differently in the housing.

Default grrrr

Okay, ordered a twin pack of Philips X-tremeVision H4 bulbs. After they arrived I pulled the burned out bulb and discovered the Philips pieces are different. First off they have two filaments and the mounting plane has three tabs arranged at about 120 degrees apart. No way it's going to fit into the mounting socket.

Anyone have some part numbers that are really going to work?

Obviously, the Philips bulbs are going back.

Pics would help.

The bulb sits in a spacer/adapter that all held in by a wire spring clip.

Default grrrr cont'd

The old bulb is back in the bike. Since having it out, looking at the service manual pics, bulb info, etc., I've come to the conclusion the bulb is an H7. H4's are dual filaments, H7's are single filament. The H7 has only one locating tab, the H4's have three.

I'm thinking of going to the dealer (shudder!) just to make sure I get the right thing, as I really don't ride at night.

The service manual on page 19-4 shows my bulb.

More news as it's available.

It should be an H7. You dont need to go to the dealer. Every auto parts store has them cheaper. If you want brighter, get the silver star ultra. They cost a bit more but are brighter than stock.
