Default GPS Mount

Here's what I'm working on for mounting my GPS.... I still need to test it and make sure it's easy to read and not in the way. I have the bracket in the over baking the first layer of black on right now. My tires and GPS unit are both due in tomorrow.... so as long as nothing happens (and it usually does to me), I'll have my bike back together and will do a test run tomorrow.

That's what I mean by the test ride. My bike is still up on the stands and I do not trust it to hold me and the bike up. I do tuck down really low, but I don't think that will be in the way. I'll know tomorrow.

that looks awesome don! much better than my rigging job. you really should make a few of those up (if they're cheap to manufacture) and sell them to members and possibly on ebay.

edit: by the way, which gps did you get. just curious, cause mine is rather large (magellan 310) and i would definatley be interested in getting something like that.

edit 2: i see that it says magellan on the holding bracket. any idea what models that it fits and where to get one. and also what did you use for mounting it?

I bought the Magellan 300. Found on eBay for $115 and a regular bike mount as well for about $30 shipped on eBay. I took the handle bar mounting bracket off and made an aluminum mount at work. Kind of simple to do, but if anyone is in the need for one, PM me and I'll see what I can do after I test it. I want to make sure it works before I say it good. I'll know tonight. Plus... you have to have a 30mm socket to take the nut off on the 600RR.

This is easy to make and I can help you out if you need one... I promise, this is much easier than say a license plate bracket... wink, wink if you're the guy waiting for one of those, not naming any names.

Looks like a good system but it won't work for people with steering dampers.

You know... real men don't use steering dampers...

I should get some hate mail over that statement. I was just kidding. I thought about that, but I don't have one on my RR and don't see the need for one yet. So I don't have one to design the mount around.

I take total offence to that! Actually I admit I bought it as a knee jerk response to when I had my wife along on a local highway fast sweeping curve and felt the slightest shake in the bars doing about 90. For all I know it would have never have happened again but it gave me the excuse to buy one. I also know I want to do some track days and will surely want one then. I should have probably put the money toward upgrading the forks and shock but that would have been $2000 to $3000 a lot more then the Scotts damper cost.
