Default GPS for bike??

I know I am probably retarded for asking this, but what kind of gps unit should I look for for my bike?? How do you get it to read your actual speed?? Reason is because I'm thinking of getting one instead of a speedo healer. It is nice to have an accurate speed, and also maps at your fingertips. Is there a special feature that the handheld gps has to have, or can they all read the actual MPH?????

I was looking at that post that you did for that gps. Thats where I got the idea of using one. I just don't know if all of them can do the MPH thing, or if only certain ones.

Speed is a basic thing, they all have that, but there's a 1 second delay. I paid a little extra and found one that has maps ($130 on eBay for the Explorist 300 from Magellan)

I saw this TomTom piece at SEMA, been thinking about trying it out... if I do I'll post up here. Lowrance is supposed to be coming out with a nice little color unit that's waterproof and plays media that I've been kind of waiting to see materialize.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a GPS system, we sell Lowrance, Alpine, Magellan and some TomTom, and I can't think of a reason I wouldn't be able to soundly beat anything legit you'd find on the 'net.

I've never really messed with one before, so I didn't know if they all had the speed option. I'd like to get one off ebay too that had the maps. trying to find on around $50.

I was looking for new. I think I found the Magellan Explorist 200 for $99. That's the cheapest one with maps. Two things... they updated their products. The 210 has a USB connect so I think you can update the maps. And the maps are not the same as the one in my car. They only have major US routes, interstates and so on.

Just PM regener8ed and see what kind of deal he can work out for you and he'll probably have better answers on what they do. I'm still learning myself.
