got screwed. new motor? a fix? or take it to the scrap yard?
Hey all I'm new to motorcycles and got my first bike last Saturday the PO said it would be a easy fix for the starter so I took it was excited till I opend it up and found this. Is there any way to fix this and not be to far in the hole it be completely screwed on this deal.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Take it back to the seller & tell him to - "easy fix" it!
I do belive he straight lied to my face. Some cristian he is. I tried push starting it the other day but no luck. Would yall know of a sure way to get it started sence the starter is no count.
And the rest of the bike needs all the lights and switches (he is bringing the dash and kick stand to me). And it has no title but he clames I can get one. I'm only $500 in if I can get a title yall think it would be worthy to fix?

Well I actually bought it (traded my 4 wheeler for it) for the motor but decided to drive it instead but looks like neither will be able to do. How ever if I do put it in a rzr frame id have to push start it all the time though right?
You could push start it all the time, but id think thats gonna wear on your clutch and gears over time, its ok to do it here and there but not everytime you wanna start it... Plus youll look like a moron push starting your bike everywhere u go.
If hes dropping you off parts, id show him and confront him about it. I, would personally take my quad back and show the motor in his face,
But if you decide to keep it, i suppose you could get a repalcement case, or at least the half and swap everything into it, but your then looking at a hassle trying to get a title if you plan on driving it anywhere except the track.
If your dropping the motor into another project you have, then that solves title issue, but you still have to split the motor, replace the case, put it back together, modify the RzR to accept the motor (not hard), all completely do able, and if you part out what you have left after that, you can probably make your money back and more.
untitled frames alone go for 500$ on ebay and craigslist alone, Probably get a case/half and gaskets for that.
Something like this would work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Block...b0eb30&vxp=mtr
Cheap, only damage is a cracked/broken mount. could be arced back on, or i doubt itll have any effect on the engine stability. Infact, you could use your cylinders and avoid it all together.
Then you just have to decide if your confident enough in your mechanical skills to do it yourself, or take it to a shop.

Just a FYI, engine cases are a matched set. You'd need to replace both halves. During manufacture, after they're machined, they're bolted together and then bored for the crankshaft and other parts that sit in the seam between the halves. Engines are usually easy to find, just have to look around for the right deal.
