Default GoPro purchase? Interested?

Not sure where to put this thread

Hey guys, so unfortunately i lost my Gopro yesterday, and i was thinking of replacing it since i did really love it.

I took it white water rafting, and my mistake was i was so busy worrying about getting it charged in the morning, that i didn't think to have it properly secured. Lesson learned, our raft flipped and my gf who was holding it at the time let it slip. What's important is she's ok, and we still had a great experience, but not it sucks that i don't have my gopro anymore.

I originally bought it through a motorcycle forum, that i randomly found searching for good prices. I was able to get the entire motor kit for 212, and i was hoping maybe someone, i'd be willing to help, would have knowledge of setting this up for CBRForum. I'd love to see more guys on here posting videos, and i absolutely love these camera's, and think they are worth every penny.

Hopefully others are interested.

Sorry you lost your GoPro. We had a thread here some time ago where we talked about various ways to tether it to prevent loss. Its water under the bridge for you though...sorry for the pun. ;-) Safety-wire, fishing line, & paracord threads, are good options for that.

I have the original GoPro. While I've gotten some good video out of it, I would be interested in getting an HD version.

I have the HD version and it is awesome. They also have a 3D HD which is 2 HD units coupled together.

Yea not securing it properly was a huge mistake, I was in a hurry and didn't think it through. So lets get a group buy going.

Do you know someone who would offer a group buy discount?

If not this thread is going nowhere.....

GoPro's prices are generally price-fixed. However, if a retailer buys in quantity, they will give a slight price break. Getting that price break from the retailer is the key. CycleGear is a GoPro dealer. Perhaps you could talk to them about it.

I bought mine almost 2 years ago for 212, and I have friends who bought it for 199. Both times were group buys. Typically someone has to have a vendor license (or something like that) and they contact GoPro and have them set-up prices. A lot of forums do it, I made this thread to see if someone was more versed on this topic, and knew someone willing to ghet it set-up. If not I'll search other forums for it.

If you find something, you could post up details here...since others of us might be interested as well.

Maybe you should think of getting something different...GoPro isn't the only "small" mountable action cam out there. I have a Contour HD and it is ridiculously easy to use, not saying you have to be a genius to use a GoPro, but the Contour is a nice, no look operation type cam. I use it when snowboarding, riding, autocross (yes with a cage), and sometimes I even set it on the dash, or hold it when I'm just out and about to see if I can catch something crazy go down.

Downside: no still pics available just vids, and it has a slightly wider "fish eye" look in playback (I think most are around 135* angle)

Upside: I've seen them go for a wide range of prices:
non-HD cams: from $50(used) ~ $100(new)
HD cams: from $125(used) ~ $250(new)
GPS logger: from if you find a used one that works get it ~ $300(new)
Contour+: just came out recently so I doubt a used one will turn up cause its $500(new)
and they have a bunch of mounts available too.

I'm not trying to promote any one product, I'm just saying maybe check out some options if it helps out in the $$$ department. Hope this actually helps and not just a huge read.
