Going to replace my radiator, a few questions...
I recently went on a ride (I have a 01 929) and felt my leg was getting wet. I pulled over and noticed that there was antifreeze all over the side of my bike and my leg. I got the bike home just fine, looked under the front wheel at my radiator and there is a huge crack on the upper corner and it was soaked in antifreeze. I need to replace the radiator, and have never replaced one on a motorcycle. Is there any special instructions that I need? Or is just bolt and go? Will the 954's fit the 929's? Does anyone have a radiator that they are wanting to sell? Any info would be appreciated... as I am lost when it comes to this subject.
Also, I know on some cars you have a bleeder that needs to be taken out to prevent bubbles from getting into the system. When replacing a radiator on a bike is it the same way?
Thanks again,
AJ

RE: Going to replace my radiator, a few questions...
a bike is similar to a car but a little different.
just bolt on the new radiator...fill with distilled water or mix or whatever you choose. turn on bike...give it some quick revs, you'll see the fluid get sucked down...this burps the system and purges it of air bubbles. if you need to add more fluid add it.
run it up to temp where t-stat opens around 170, then you'll see the fluid level go down from the cap...
from there you add more fluid and you also want to burp some more.
then close shop and run her to see how she does. make sure you get all the bubbles out.
also...make sure the bike is on the side stand when you do this.
