Default Gearing

I've been reading up on gearing and had a question. If I go -1 up front and +2 on the back will this mess up my speedometer reading?

Yeah, it will show you going faster than actual speed, but how much I don`t know since the factory speedo is vague to begin with. check around for posts about the "speedo healer"...

I did this on my 929 and before the speedo was off 8-9% increasingly as the speeds got higher and after the -1 +2 the speedo was 15% off 100mph was only 85 and so on as verified on the dyno so a speedo healer is next on the list.

it's like 7.5 or 8% for a -1. as far as +2 in the rear, +3 is a little bit more than -1 up front. so you would be looking at 12+% off.

i did the -1,+2 and my speedo was off 15mph pretty much threw off the entire speedo, probably alittle more above 100 but don't know exactley, but if your doing over a 100mph and u get a ticket it doesn't really matter if its 105mph or 115mph your probably going to jail either way

i talked to my mech he said the speedo is off from factory to start with and if you go minus 1 in front plus 2 in back it should be about right now

billy42 he lied to u so i guess your pissed, the only way to correct the speedometer is to get a speedo healer, but yes the speedometer if off from the factory but not real bad but when you change the gearing it is really off bad, when i did my gear change it was only 15mph i verified this with one of those radar displays that the police put out to get u to slow down but that was at 55mph, my speedo said 70mph and the radar said 55mph, but i don't know how bad it is off above that.
