RE: GAS LEFT IN ENGINE A LONG TIME
the only solution for storing a vehicle is putting fuel stabilizer in.. if you dont have any gas in the tank the condensation will build up and then you have rust/water problems.... you put fuel stabilizer in... and if your bike has literly been sitting and not touched for 1 year you have alot of work to do! get friends, get your hands dirty, drink beer, turn up the radio and HAVE FUN!

RE: GAS LEFT IN ENGINE A LONG TIME
Gas shouldn't have varnished in one year, and the only way the fuel should be able to get into the crankcase is thru the injectors, or a pressure regulator that has a bad diaphram. I am an auto mechanic, and i'm sure your not gonna want to hear this, but take it to a tech !! Gas in the crankcase is bad news, and really hard on the clutchs esp. Drain the gas and the crank and get it to a tech.

RE: GAS LEFT IN ENGINE A LONG TIME
If your crankcase is really filling w/gas, your first step is going to be draining the bad oil/gas mixture out and find out where the fuel is leaking from. I would think a stuck injector or fuel reg diaphram would be the only two possible suspects, but like i said, i'm an auto tech. They really don't work any differently tho. Pretty unsusall problem, was why i suggested a tech look at it. If you can find the vac connection to the fuel regulator, pull it off and crank the bike (disable ignition first) to see if any gas comes out of the regulator, or there is any fuel in the hose, that would be a start, and the easiest thing to check first.
