Default FYI decal removal 06'1Krr

Following helpfull advice obtained on this fabulous forum...I took off to my garage with hair dryer and goo-gone in hand. I heated the decal to be removed with the dyer, and with a plastic blade, worked off the desired decal. The problem........when the decal was removed, it left an indentation of where it used to be. If you look close you can see it and if you glide your fingers over the tank you can feel it big-time. It's like they put the decals on...masked them off, and then painted and clear coated it, cause there seems to be a void where the decal was...I thought the tank was painted first, then the decals were put on, so when removed, would be a smooth finish...not the case. Looks good, did everything right as far as I can tell, no complaints but....ehh....well....

from what I've seen most Honda products clear over the graphics on the tank (cover) but not the fairings??? the relief you feel is probably the absence of the clear!!! you could sand the clear off the rest of the cover and re-clear the whole thing... Did the decal come off easy under the clear ??? I've always wondered bout that ... hmmm

tee-total pain in the *** to remove. I heated it up as hot as I felt comfortable with, and tried different ranges of heat, but regardless, it came off tiny flake by tiny flake, took me forever. I removed the middle wind-tip on the tank, looks better I think, not so cluttered, less busy, a little different, subtle change......Feeling the absence of clear makes sense, sounds about right for what I'm experiencing
