Question Fuel Tank Petcock - Broken?

Hi all,

Cleaning out the fuel tank on a '99 CBR600F4, and took off the fuel tank petcock (see first pic below). According to BikeBandit.com's exploded parts view, it appears the screen filter and such is attached to the petcock (second pic). So... ahem... did I break something?

Yes, it looks like it's still in your tank. Does the F4 have a manual reserve or does it indicate automatically when the fuel is low ? What I mean is do you have to turn the petcock from on to reserve ?

Not sure... just got the bike. There are 3 positions for the petcock valve: on, off, on. I'm assuming one of the on's is a reserve? Or maybe not. I think I remember reading in the Honda or Haynes manual that both on positions are the same... not sure on that though.

There is no fuel leakage though. If it actually is "broke", I don't think it will affect anything as long as the screen/filter stays in place and doesn't break off inside the tank.
