I have a 2002 F4i. I did all the maintenance recently, spark plugs, oil, filters, lubes, new battery,etc. Somehow I messed up my fuel shut off switch in the tank. In the event you drop your bike there is a switch that deactivates the fuel pump. How do I correct or disable this switch? Everytime I lean into a turn the bike shuts down on me and I have to stop, turn it off then back on, and restart the bike. Any help would be appreciated.

You are reffering to the bank angle sensor, or BAS. Im not sure where its located on your bike, probably in the middle of the headlight. You may have to remove the headlight to get to it. There are several different styles, but it should have one round side, and one flat side, and be held on with two bolts, have 3 wires going to it. Some bikes also have them under the seat, but I think yours will be on the backside of the headlight, between the headlight and the fairing stay.

To bypass it, ( and you really shouldn't for saftey reasons), you can remove the plug, and jump the two outer wires together. That will trick the bike into thinking its upright all the time, even when laying on its side, so it won't shut off.

 

Thanks for the reply. I know exactly what you're talking about. I thought that was a fuse or capacitor that the bike needed to run. I had to remove my stock lights and fairings for paint. Right now I have streetfighter headlight and fairing installed. I have the fuses, and apparently the BAS, zip tied behind the fairing. I will check this out and see what happens. That was it. I had to retie the BAS so that it would sit upright. Thanks for the help. You were 100% accurate.
