fuel pump - higher pitch whine than normal
That hasn't been the year for myself or my F4i.
I just recently noticed that my fuel pump whines at a much higher pitch than "normal". When I blip the throttle (almost trying to make the exhaust sound like a pig's grunt), the bike seems like it wants to stall. But if I rev it to 6K it seems fine. With the bike rolling (ie. under load), the bike hesitates at low RPM.
So I recently put a new FPR, so that's out. I took the tank off, and replaced removed the fuel pump. In doing so, I replaced the fuel filter (thinking that was the issue) cleaned the fabric screen, and replaced the brillo-pad screen. With the pump out, i powered it up, and it sounded fine, but I'm guessing it makes this noise under load. And yes, I mean, the difference in pitch/sound is MUCH different. So much that I could hear the change wearing a helmet!
Anyway, could the fuel pump be going bad? That's the only thing I can think of. Any thoughts before I cough up another 250 bux?
Thanks
John
