fuel Leak
Hey all, So I was riding down the highway the other day I was in 5th gear about to kick it in to 6th, when I hot the throttle it bogged almost like it was starving for petrol. I gave it more throttle and the response was the same, then it died. I coasted safely off the road and once I was going slow enough I bumped it and it started but died when I gave it a little throttle. Gave it a look over and realized I was a Little low on fuel, "not sure if this was the cause of this all or not". Got fuel in and it started right up but when I got home and parked it, the next day I went out and there was fuel leaking from under the tank, it looked as if from the overflow and the carbs, I'm not sure if I left the engine kill switch on but if I had could this cause the fuel to leak out?
Sounds like the fuel float(s) maybe sticking open, allowing fuel to leak out of the overflows in the carbs or the float heights may need resetting (Haynes manual on how to do this!) to the correct height. Or there may be a hose split or detached under the tank that feeds the carbs. Best get this sorted before you set your bike on fire!
