Default FINALLY!!!

Well after 11,600 mines of listening to a can of beebees I finally changed out my CCT. What a pain in the butt. But I did save myself $200 from having the dealership do it. I replaced mine with an APE manual one. I woke up at 7am this mornning and went right to it after 2 1/2 hours it was done. I went to church then came home and ajusted it. My advise is take the air box off it will make it easier. I followed the instructions on CBR world web site. I still have a tick coming from it do I need to loosen it ?

Try a search on CCT's. If I remember correc tly, you tighten until there is no noise, and then loosen a 1/4 turn or so. There is much more info on the older CCT posts.

It wouldn't have cost you a thing at the dealer. There is a service bulletin that has them rebuild your tensioner at no cost to the customer. The down side is it will end up going bad again sooner or later. I put the APE tensioner on mine and have been quiet ever since.

don't be misled, it's NOT going bad...find out how the stock cctls actually work and you'll KNOW that it's not failing or providing any less tension than it was...just noisy and that is easily fixed.

RocketJoe-

Could you give me a recap of the problem you were having and how exactly you fixed it. I have a 1995 F3 and I am hearing two different funny noises. I am curious if one of them is the same problem you were having.

One of them is a weird ticking noise and some people I know said they thought it was the cam tensioner chain. Not sure what this is…..could you enlighten me if this was your problem.

The other noise only occurs when I am in neutral and the clutch is out. It is also a rattling noise. Some have told me this is normal and others have said it is not. Your thoughts….

Anyone else with any insight would also be appricated.

Thanks guys and gals………

I'm thinking that your rattle is clutch chatter. From what I've been reading of F3's it seems normal. I don't think the F3 has the CCT problem, but I have been wrong once before.

If its the CCT it will sound like a can of beebees. F3s do have a clutch chatter. I had 2 f3s and they had it.
