i'm no expert by any means, so don't take my advice to be exactly correct. but if the FI light is on, i believe that means it has something to do with the fuel injection system(that would be my guess). maybe the computer isn't registering the 954 motor. has all the electrical been upgraded to accomodate the new engine? if not, the computer probably is looking for 929 specs, when in actuality it's getting 954 readouts. does that make any sense? i don't know, anyway, hope you find the problem. good luck.

You dont mention where you live..for example the CA models both have Oxygen sensors on the mid pipe, the 49 staters do not..if the Oxygen sensor is not hooked up or faulty that is one possibility or if you have a CA motor with 49 state exhaust, ect....I just looked up the micro-fiche for your model http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_03...er/muffler.cfm
and researched it myself. I have seen the light before when this is the situation

I don't have a manual for your bike so I don't know the exact procedure but there is a way to find out what code is kicking the light on. This code will narrow down your search for the gremlin a great deal.
